This is the first time two female leaders are vying to be Queensland premier, in an election campaign dominated by the response to COVID-19 and the resulting recession.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington have spent many of their media moments on the campaign trail in high-vis gear and construction hats, focusing on promises of job creation and bolstering manufacturing in Queensland across male-dominated industries.
Much less visible has been each politician’s specific plans for women.
