AFL grand final wristbands subject to federal government recall over button batteries

Wristbands given to spectators at the AFL grand final at the Gabba should be thrown away immediately, the federal government’s authority for product safety has directed.
The wristbands, supplied by the AFL, contain two fully charged button batteries, which can be deadly if swallowed.
The items were gifted to about 30,000 fans who attended the game in Brisbane on Saturday, and would light up throughout various times throughout the event.
