Newly minted flatmates Matt Preston and Gary Mehigan play duelling cooks over the best way to enjoy the traditional Easter feast of lamb. Tongs at the ready.

Before chocolate at Easter there was lamb. There are obvious reasons that eating lamb is associated with Easter, the festival that marks the arrival of spring in the northern hemisphere, ranging from the pagan festivities of Eostre (the Celtic goddess of spring who gave Easter its name) to Christian and Jewish traditions.

Lamb also stars in a core Ramadan dish, haleem, a hearty stew of lamb and creamy wheat.

So, with tradition in mind, I sat down with my current flatmate, Mr Gary Mehigan, to map…
