It’s the first Friday the 13th since the world was rocked by the pandemic and social media is questioning whether we even need the notoriously “unlucky” day in the year that it’s been.
The day that’s synonymous with bad luck has its roots in centuries of history, and while it remains uncertain where the tradition began, negative superstitions have circled the number 13 like a vulture over its prey.
The fear of the number 13 has even earned a psychological term: triskaidekaphobia, according to History.com.
