Queensland Maritime Museum racing to find funding to avoid permanent closure

The Queensland Maritime Museum (QMM) will close permanently on New Year’s Eve if it does not receive urgent funding.

In an internal email to volunteers, members and stakeholders, QMM CEO Emma Di Muzio announced “fiscal planning and projections” had the museum closing permanently on December 31 to “avoid insolvency”, because it had not yet been able to secure ongoing operational funding.

“Unfortunately, with no confirmed income at this point in time, QMM’s board and management will use November’s closure (and time of reduced expenses) to plan as best as possible for the future,” she said.

“QMM’s operations are not providing anywhere near the revenue required to meet expenses and are therefore unsustainable.”
