A new study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism finds that more than 80% of over 200 COVID-19 patients in a hospital in Spain had vitamin D deficiency, suggesting that vitamin D may play a role in immune system function as it pertains to the novel coronavirus.According to the study, 80% of 216 COVID-19 patients at the Hospital Universitario Marqués de Valdecilla had vitamin D deficiency. Out of that group of patients, men had lower vitamin D levels than women.
