There are all sorts of new checks, tests and experiences when taking an international flight these days. Let me walk you through it.
The lack of traffic on the drive into Melbourne Airport was the first giveaway.
Even on weekends, the road outside the terminals is usually a hot mess of cars, vans, buses and taxis jostling for position.
On the day I arrived to catch a connecting flight to Sydney for my trip to the US, there was barely a vehicle to be seen.
