Space: more water than expected in the southern hemisphere of the Moon – Pledge Times
The Moon was believed to be arid and inhospitable. However, according to the latest findings from NASA, it is home to nearly 600 million tonnes of ice, twice as much as estimated. Scientists thought this water was trapped, inaccessible, at the bottom of huge craters on its poles. But thanks to the Boeing SOFIA, equipped with an infrared telescope, NASA scientists have spotted traces of water molecules on the surface, on the Clavius crater, present in the southern hemisphere and visible from Earth.
