QBFP at Karumba recently conducted an early morning patrol of the foreshores in the Gulf of Carpentaria but weren’t able to get close enough due to a dropping tide to inspect one fisher’s net. With tidal movements in the Gulf generally consisting of only one high tide and one low tide a day, drones have allowed our officers to get close enough to inspect nets in restricted waterways. ???????? Officers launched their drone and it appeared they weren’t the only ones interested in the net! This toothy critter was observed from the skies taking a keen interest only to leave with a smile once spotted from above. ???? QBFP have a number drones located at districts throughout the state that are used in a range of compliance activities.
