ASIC boss steps aside after claiming $118,000 for tax accounting – Sydney Morning Herald
Taxpayers paid almost $120,000 to cover the tax affairs of the corporate watchdog’s chairman, despite only having initial approval for $4050 of tax accounting costs….

Before Mr Shipton was appointed by the Department of Treasury, ASIC discussed the cost of relocating the new chair and the option approved was for $4050 worth of tax services.
After this, KPMG emailed ASIC in December 2017 requesting approval for the preparation of tax returns in 2017 and 2018 for Mr Shipton, without cost estimates. That was approved.
