NASA Awards Nokia $14M to Deploy a 4G Connection on the Moon – PCMag AU
It will be the first 4G LTE connection in space and is expected to provide a signal from late 2022.

NASA is intending to land the first woman and the next man on the Moon by 2024, and once they are there, a decent wireless connection back to Earth is required. Nokia has now secured funding to provide NASA with the first 4G LTE communications system both on the Moon and in space.
Last week, NASA selected 14 American companies as part of its Tipping Point solicitation to develop a number of technologies “that will help forge a path to sustainable Artemis operations on the Moon.” …
