More than 1000 new blood donors are needed in WA over the next six weeks to address a seasonal shortage and meet demand from hospitals.
Less than 6 per cent of those eligible to give blood are donors, prompting Lifeblood formerly the Australian Red Cross Blood Service to urge people to donate as soon as possible.
Donor services director Cath Stone said it was a growing challenge to make sure enough blood was donated.
