After further tests and evaluation of the patient, the doctors found that there was no blockage or inflammation in his ear canals or eardrums or any sign of diseases previously linked to hearing loss like flu, HIV or autoimmune conditions. When the doctors conducted more tests, they found that the patient’s inner ear, which is responsible for hearing sound, was damaged. After ruling out every other possibility, the doctors concluded that the patient’s hearing loss was linked to COVID-19.
