The number of new daily coronavirus cases has increased by 17,540 in a huge jump – with deaths rising by 77.
It comes after the country’s coronavirus hospital death toll has tragically risen by 58 as lockdown restrictions could be tightened further in the north.
In England there have been 51 coronavirus deaths in hospital, in Scotland there have been five further deaths, and in both Wales and Northern Ireland there has been one more death.
