Renewables surge, coal dips to a record low – The Australian Financial Review
Renewable power provided just over a quarter of Australia’s electricity needs in the three months to September, while coal hit an all-time low last month.

The federal government wants to provide $3.3 million to Shine Energy to conduct a feasibility study into the controversial Collinsville coal-fired power plant project after Prime Minister Scott Morrison flagged the power station to quell the Nationals who were angry that coal-fired power was not given due consideration under the government’s policy to underwrite baseload generation projects to increase competition in the sector.
