Queensland’s back line woes have worsened with Cowboys star Valentine Holmes ruled out of Game 1 of State of Origin with a shoulder charge suspension.

The Cowboys confirmed on Monday that Holmes has taken the early guilty plea for his grade one shoulder charge on Broncos Jesse Arthars. Hes copped a one-match ban, which will be served during the series-opener, provided he is selected in the squad.
