Panthers barely bat an eye against Dogs for 15th straight win – Sydney Morning Herald
An alleged eye gouge from Bulldogs prop Luke Thompson couldn’t derail the Panthers’ 15th straight victory and their collection of the JJ Giltinan Shield.
“I was hoping to get the penalty, but I just felt something there,” he said. “My eyes were closed. I think there was a bit of emotion being their last game of the year. I think its all good.”
Head coach Ivan Cleary spoke about the incident post-match but wasn’t sure if a suspension would be handed to Thompson.
“I only saw the replay later on the big screens,” he said. “Jimmy Tamou has played a lot of games and been tackled a lot of times … he wouldn’t have done that without thinking about it…
