Markets grow confident of RBA rate cut – The Australian Financial Review
Economists are looking at the three-year bond rate to calculate what odds the market is assigning to a rate cut at the October meeting, and it turns out to be a live one.
And Capital Economics on Friday joined Westpac, National Australia Bank, Betashares and AMP Capital in forecasting an October rate reduction.
While interest rate cut forecasts usually apply to the official overnight cash rate, this benchmark has become all but irrelevant and central bank officials are instead shifting their focus to four other, more esoteric, rates.
