Games boycott would ‘harden Chinese nationalism’, says Dave Sharma – Sydney Morning Herald
The Liberal MP and former ambassador says a push to reconsider Beijing as the host of the 2022 Olympics was a “bad idea”.
Sharma, a career diplomat with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs, who also led the International Division of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet before joining Parliament, said the international spotlight placed on an Olympic host was its most powerful diplomatic tool in negotiating over Hong Kong and Xinjiang.
