France has seen its highest daily rise in coronavirus cases since the pandemic began as a record 13,498 infections were confirmed in the last 24 hours.
This leaves the countrys cumulative total at 442,194 with the seven-day moving average of new infections at 9,700.
That compares with the significantly lower figure of 272 at the end of May, two weeks after the lockdown was lifted.
