Tennis world left stunned by Alexander Zverev’s US Open choke – Fox Sports
It took Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal staying at home, and Novak Djokovic swatting a tennis ball at a line judge for Alexander Zverev to finally make a slam final.
But even without having one of the Big Three standing across from him instead against Dominic Thiem the German star was unable to hold his nerve.
Zverev came out firing in the US Open final; taking a 6-2 6-4 lead in the decider with Thiem, in his fourth slam final, looking completely out of sorts. With the match and the tournament within reach, the 23-year-old, in some ways predictably faltered to allow Thiem to come all the way back and win.
