Socceroos star Mathew Ryan has backed himself to remain Brighton’s No.1 goalkeeper, even if a reported transfer swoop for Arsenal’s Emiliano Martinez comes off.

Now Ryan, Australia’s clear first-choice custodian, is at risk of being relegated to back-up status at Brighton if their pursuit of Martinez comes off – although according to The Athletic, the club has denied any formal offer has been lodged.
Ryan is unconcerned about his future, saying the first he learned of the reports was on Saturday upon arriving at training, where some of his Brighton teammates joked about the Martinez links.
