Boyd Cordner’s cousin is fighting for a life in hospital after an on-field accident over the weekend.
Joel Dark, 21, was making his first grade debut for Central Newcastle against Western Suburbs on Sunday afternoon when he was injured, and reportedly suffered a seizure.
A teammate of Darks performed CPR before he was rushed to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
Dark has undergone two operations since Sunday.
The incident happened midway through the second half and the game was abandoned, with the club offering counselling to players and spectators who witnessed the scene.
