Coronavirus infections rocket in Birmingham and Solihull to new high – fresh lockdown fears – Birmingham Live
The infection rate for the city has soared to its highest since lockdown restrictions were eased.
Birmingham has seen a shocking rise in the number of coronavirus cases – with a staggering 557 new positive cases in a week.
The city’s rate of infection has rocketed and now hovers just below 50 per 100,000 people. That’s the biggest rate since lockdown measures began to ease in June.
An equivalent rate in other parts of the country triggered major local lockdown restrictions.
The latest data is for the week up to Friday September 4.
