Latest figures show that 290 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in North East hospitals so far in February.
According to data published by NHS England on Sunday, the highest number of deaths were in hospitals within the South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, with a figure of 84.
The Trust’s sites include South Tyneside District Hospital and Sunderland Royal Hospital.
