Saturday marks the 160th edition of the time-honoured $2 million Australian Derby (2400m) and the field has been declared and barriers allocated.
The Australian Derby was first run in 1861 when won by Kyogle and the only year the race wasn’t run was in 1978 when it was moved from the spring to autumn and former great Dulcify won a controversial and memorable renewal in the first autumn running in 1979.
In 2021, a field of 15 colts and geldings will clash with a sole filly – Spring Champion Stakes…
