Brisbane’s derelict, heritage-listed Broadway Hotel put up for sale

One of Brisbane’s most recognisable buildings, Woolloongabba’s derelict, heritage-listed Broadway Hotel has been put on the market.
The 1880s-era hotel on Logan Road was the subject of numerous stop orders and enforcement orders two years ago to prevent its demolition.
It comes after a fire gutted the three-storey hotel in September 2018.
The Brisbane City Council approved a demolition application last year to remove several parts of the late Victorian hotel’s site, including World War II air raid shelters, which the owners said were unsafe.
The hotel itself is not subject to demolition, and both the council and the state government have made it clear they want the hotel to be restored to its former glory.
