How atomic clocks could probe dark matter mysteries and fundamental physics

Physicists have measured and compared the “ticking” rate between three of the most precise clocks in the world to such unprecedented accuracy, that it may lay the groundwork to answer some of the biggest head-scratchers in physics.

Aside from helping redefine the standard unit of time — the length of a second — such exacting measurements could also help probe universal constants and give clues to the nature of dark matter.
