A couple of the top NRL teams South Sydney and Parramatta exploited this by flirting with the 10m corridor early in the tackle count.
It is a smart ploy because, if the defensive team sprints up early on tackles one or two to jam the ball carrier, it knows the attack will start on a very slow play-the-ball, curbing momentum.
And it is no great disadvantage…
