Almost 40 arrested, $272K seized in massive Valley cocaine bust

Five people will face cocaine trafficking charges after 37 people were arrested and more than $272,000 worth of cash and dangerous drugs seized, after a massive cocaine ring was busted in Fortitude Valley on Friday.
Barber shops have been used to traffic the cocaine, detectives will allege, after 25 properties were searched by police in Fortitude Valley and Brisbane City in the undercover Operation Sierra Gypsy.
Police seized the drugs on Friday.
Detectives from the Fortitude Valley Criminal Investigation Branch arrested the 37 people on 215 charges, including five people with trafficking cocaine.
Brisbane Region Crime and Intelligence co-ordinator, Detective Superintendent Tony Fleming, praised the efforts of detectives.
